Was That A Gunshot?

Distinguishing between hype and horror in an anxious moment.

It’s 4:56 a.m. and I’m awake because I’m trying to decide if I heard two gunshots a moment ago, or dreamed it.

Tell me if any of this feels familiar.

I awoke startled. I’ve heard gunshots before. I’ve fired a gun before. Hell, I was in the Army; I should know what a gun sounds like.

Handgun? Rifle fire? Fireworks?
